Here are a few quotations: "Music is form - melody, beauty, scoring - it is as beautiful as a Greek statue. It can never be something personal or individual. Its beauty lies in what is common for mankind" (1925). "Music should not be 'original', it should be art... It has nothing to do with imagination, feelings or passion" (1925). "The inner nature of art is tradition, abstraction; it is impersonal and full of brilliance" (1928).
