The work Res absurda - "absurdity" or "unreasonableness" - was a direct comment on Langgaard's situation as an artist. It is a choral work, and the text consists solely of the words "res absurda". When the work was rejected by the State Broadcasting Service, Langgaard therefore returned the letter with the remark "Precisely!" written in beside the title. Below he wrote: "Unfriendly missives will not be received. You can burn my masterly scores".
