28.7. Rued Langgaard was born in Copenhagen. Parents: Siegfried Langgaard (1852-l9l4), composer, pianist and Royal Chamber Musician, and Emma Langgaard, pianist (née Foss, 1861-1926). Rued Langgaard was their only child. Lived (until 1927) at Niels Juelsgade 7 (4th floor), Copenhagen. 3.9. Christened Rud Immanuel Langgaard in the Garnisons Kirke, Copenhagen. In 1932 Langgaard changed his Christian name to Rued (to avoid the common misconception that Rud was an abbreviation of Rudolf). After the revision of Danish spelling in 1948, he often wrote his name with the letter å (Langgård). |
