The four phases

Tusindfryd (Daisy)

The 4th Movement of Blomstervignetter (Flower Vignettes) (1913). Listen to the beginning of this short, elegant and light- hearted movement, which is indebted to the romantic character piece, but is also reminiscent of Mozart, and therefore takes on a neo-classicist character. As may be seen below, Langgaard also gave the movement the title Det sangvinske Temperament (The Sanguine Temperament) and Foraarsklange (Tones of Spring).

Section of Langgaard's original manuscript. This example is reproduced by permission of the publishing house, Ries & Erler (Berlin), which published the composition in 1913.
