Langgaard's oeuvre in figures and charts

Rued Langgaard's work as a composer 1906-52

Langgaard's production is characterised by two markedly creative periods:

• From the beginning of 1914 to the end of 1918 (in which period 100 compositions were added to the list of works)
• From May 1947 to September 1949 (60 compositions, mostly small works)

The graph clearly shows the long, 'lean' period between these two peaks in his production. The opera, Antikrist, is to be charted in around 1921, and the slightly more stable situation around 1935 was due to the composition of his major organ work, Messis, which was the only important work produced between 1925 and 1945.
